Things I'm doing recently on envs.netOn this page you'll find what I'm going to do in the forseeable future here on the envs.net pubnix. Updated on 04 May 2026.
The EnvsBot XMPP Helper Bot
Since 03 Mar 2026 we're very busily and intensely working on the EnvsBot XMPP Helper Bot for the envs XMPP server (prosody). It's now already in BETA stage and has a lot of functionality. But for me the work on it was fun, but also exausting. I was working on it nearly every day and night for around 2 month now together with ~creme and we decided to take a break from the active development until we're ready for it again. Of course we'll fix bugs if they occur but nothing more. It runs already very stable anyway and we don't expect any bigger interruption in running the bot.My Shell Account
I'm steadily setting up my shell account at dan@envs.net. I switched from byobu to tmux, which starts a new session if none is present and otherwise connects to the existing one if one is present, directly over ssh.
I switched my shell to ZSH from bash and now I'm continuously configuring everything to my needs. I already made NeoVim my default $EDITOR, which was a bit tricky since it had some glitches when running with a proper set $TERM variable. I'm still in the process of creating workarounds, but it's already in a very usable state.
I'm tinkering with the provided environment and am constantly changing, adding and swapping features and apps, and play around with all those provided cli gadgets and gizmos.
My Web Site
I'm working on my web page again and added a "feels" page, which I use as a timeline, for my daily work and my current condition. So you'll find some off-topic stuff in there about my daily life.
I'm still using my own blogging and notes engine, which is now fully functional. My blog will be the main place for posting about my experiences, lessons learned, tutorials, own projects here on the pubnix and other updates. But you may find some "off-topic" stuff there as as well. The notes page is for short notes to other webmention-enabled sites and to my @dan@pleroma.envs.net Mastodon account.
I've managed to tweak the ttbp blogging engine (feels) with my own version and the "feels" can now receive webmentions too.
The Single File PHP Gallery for my photo and image collections is also still in use but mainly for screenshots and images found on the internet.
My Gemini Page
My Gemini page is still just one informational page, which I consider as completed.
My Finger Timeline will be deleted
My finger page reachable through '$ finger dan@envs.net | less' over the commandline for example, used to contain my timeline but this functionality is now done through my "feels" page as described above. I'm not sure what to put in it but I'll certainly delete my .plan file and make some different use of it.
A lot of fun
So I'm still having a lot of fun working on my envs account and especially the EnvsBot, where development is paused at the moment, but will continue after a while.
So that's what I'm doing at the moment here on envs net. I hope everybody is having fun like me. That's it for now.
Best wishes,
~dan
